Wellbeing - General Information and Resources

Wellbeing — Broad Square Primary

As a school, we take emotional health and wellbeing very seriously and we are leading the way in highlighting this area. We are currently working towards a Wellbeing Award, which will demonstrate how wellbeing and mental health in our pupils, staff and parents are at the forefront of our school’s vision of leading a mentally healthy school. Miss Steele will be co-ordinating the award and all stakeholders will have opportunities to voice their opinions on the provision provided for wellbeing at our school.  See letter to parents below to see how we will use the data from the survey.

We actively promote physical and emotional health, and aim to equip pupils with the understanding and skills they need to make informed decisions about their health, both now and in the future. By championing healthy eating, healthy lifestyles and emotional health and well-being, we are aiming to continue to raise standards and improve levels of pupil achievement.

At our school we:

  • help children to understand their emotions and feelings better
  • help children feel comfortable sharing any concerns or worries
  • help children socially to form and maintain relationships
  • promote self-esteem and ensure children know that they count
  • encourage children to be confident and ‘dare to be different’
  • help children to develop emotional resilience and to manage setbacks

In 2021 we introduced REAL PE to enhance our Health & Wellbeing Area of Learning & Experience.  REAL PE encompasses 6 Learning Behaviours whilst developing the fundamental movement skills. APPLYING PHSYICAL.pngCOGNITIVE.png
